Lenny & Leilani

A Retreat on Love

Monday 14 – Thursday 17 June 2027 Whispertree Retreat, Northern California

Why a retreat

Lenny and Leilani standing close together among mossy trees and ferns

This retreat is an encapsulation of what we hold dear: natural beauty, connection, love, and most importantly, you: our friends and family who have held us along the way, and who we hope will carry us forward as we embark on this new journey.

So rather than a single afternoon, we're asking for three nights. We want to spend time with you, on hikes, in the pond, over dinner and on the dance floor. There will be a non-traditional wedding ceremony on Wednesday afternoon, and a big party to follow. We ask that you come for the entirety of the event, so we can hold and create a container together.

What to Bring

Packing

Anderson Valley in June is hot by day and properly cold once the sun goes down, often a thirty-degree swing. Pack for both.

A full packing list is coming in May 2027.

Your Invitation

Who's included

Everyone sleeps on site, and Whispertree only has a fixed number of beds, so we've had to plan this around a specific and fairly small group of people. Because of that limited space, we're unable to accommodate plus-ones.

Your invitation lists by name everyone we've held a place for. Some of you are bringing children and we're delighted about it, and their names will be on there too.

If anything is unclear, or your circumstances have changed since we wrote to you, please ask.

Questions

Things people have asked

Wait, Monday to Thursday?

Yes, and we know that's a lot to ask. Mid-week was the only way to have Whispertree entirely to ourselves. We hope you can take the time off. If you really must, there will be some unscheduled morning time for checking email.

Do I have to come for all of it?

Yes, please. We want to create and hold a container, and that only works if we're all together from start to finish.

What's an unconference?

Rather than a fixed schedule, the workshops are made and put on by you. Guests are invited to share talks, activities, and workshops on the topic of love. There will also be some pre-scheduled whole group afternoon activities.

Can I bring a partner or a friend?

Only if they're named on your invitation. Everyone sleeps on site and Whispertree has a fixed number of beds, so we can't accommodate plus-ones. If your situation has changed since we wrote to you, tell us and we'll see what's possible.

What about a registry?

We do not have a registry. Your presence and time are the greatest gift.

What's the weather like?

Anderson Valley in mid-June is hot and dry in the afternoon, often into the eighties, and then drops into the forties overnight.

I have a dietary requirement or allergy.

Every meal has gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options as standard. For anything beyond that, tell us in the RSVP and we'll get it to the kitchen well ahead of time.

Will I have phone signal?

Phone service in the valley is patchy at best and the wifi reaches the main buildings only.

Can I bring my dog?

Sadly not. Whispertree asks that pets stay at home.

What's the land like to walk?

Six miles of trails through meadows, oak and fir. The Valley Trail from the Barn to the top of the Knoll takes about ten minutes; there are also one-mile, 2.5-mile and 3-mile loops. There's poison oak in the woods off the trails, as well as ticks. Please do a full tick check when returning from a walk!

Can I arrive a day early or stay on after?

Unfortunately not.

What if I need to cancel?

Life happens and we'd rather know early than late. Email us as soon as you can so we can release the room.

Something else.

Write to us at wedding@leilanibellamy.com. We would much rather answer than have you guess.

RSVP

Tell us you're coming

Please reply by Friday 14 May 2027. One form per invitation; list everyone named on yours together.

Only the names on your invitation, please; we can't accommodate plus-ones. If you think someone's missing, write to us and we'll sort it.

Flight details help us group people into shared airport pickups.

There's no ride-share out here, so spare seats are worth a great deal to someone.

Please send them to wedding@leilanibellamy.com. We would love anything we haven't seen, however blurry.
